Mosquitoes transmit deadly diseases like dengue fever, zika virus, yellow fever, encephalitis and malaria. These are preventable diseases, yet every minute a child dies and more than a billion people are at risk.
Long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLIN) are recommended by the World Health Organisation Pesticide Evaluation (WHOPES) for malaria control and prevention.
LLIN’s protect people against mosquito bites and kill mosquitoes which come into contact with the nets.
LLIN’s have been shown to be the most cost-effective method of prevention against malaria, and are part of the WHO’s Millenium Development Goals.
